Frequently Asked Questions
How LedeWire's settlement infrastructure works for publishers, platforms, and AI agents
What is LedeWire?
LedeWire is settlement infrastructure for licensed digital IP. We make it possible for any AI agent, research platform, or human reader to discover, license, and pay for premium information in real time — with rights holders compensated automatically, in dollars, at the moment the transaction happens. Think of it as the transaction layer between licensed information and the systems that need it.
How do AI agents use LedeWire?
AI agents and research platforms access licensed information through LedeWire in a single HTTP request. When an agent needs a specific piece of licensed IP — a financial dataset, a research report, a news article — it makes a standard request. LedeWire handles authentication, payment, licensing, and delivery automatically. No accounts, no subscriptions, no manual negotiation. The agent gets what it needs. The rights holder gets paid.
How do publishers connect to the network?
Publishers connect their existing work to the LedeWire network, set their own pricing, and start earning immediately. LedeWire handles access control, payment routing, licensing records, and transaction analytics. Every time a human reader or AI agent accesses your work, payment routes directly to your account in dollars. Per transaction, in real time. The network currently spans thousands of publishers through our integration with Tollbit, with payments processed via Stripe Connect.
How does pricing work?
Publishers set their own prices for their work. Pricing is per-transaction — there are no subscriptions required on either side. When a human reader or AI agent accesses a piece of licensed IP, they pay the publisher's price for that specific asset. Payments settle in dollars via Stripe Connect. Readers and platforms can prefund a LedeWire wallet for frictionless access across the entire network.
What types of IP can be licensed through LedeWire?
LedeWire supports any form of licensed digital IP — from financial datasets and market research to investigative journalism and proprietary analysis. If it's valuable information that agents and readers need access to, it can be licensed and monetized through the network. Our current publisher network spans financial data providers, news organizations, research publishers, and specialist information producers.
